Computex has just begun in Taipei and is alrdy lding the pack with a stdy strm of announcements. The company has just announced the launch of a brand new large screened Android smartphone. Called the Liquid S1, it packs a 720p 5.7 inch screen. Aimed at emerging markets in Asia and Europe, it will come equipped with dual SIM card slots. There are no plans to bring the smartphone to the US and hence it lacks LTE radios which are critical for the market.Powering the smartphone is a 1.5Ghz quad core Mediatek processor. This is paired with 1GB of memory which should be more than sufficient to facilitate multitasking. The software on top is Android 4.2 with an almost stock interface layer. That is not to say that the handset is running stock Android 4.2 because has taken the time out to make some fairly useful additions to the software. Holding down on the multitasking button revls a pop up window that offers shortcuts to windowed apps. This functionality is somewhat similar to the pop up window functions seen on ’s Android handsets. The handset weighs 195 grams and is equipped with 8GB of storage that can be expanded via a microSD card slot. Powering the massive screen is a 2400 mAh battery pack that is user replacble. TheLiquid S1 will launch in black and white options in Q3 this yr across France, Beium, Netherlands, Ukraine, Russia, UK and Germany and will be priced at 329 euros.Source:Engadget
